Take your concept to a wearable garment

Want to experience the life of a fashion designer? Want to know how to develop your own designs from concept to wearable garment? Learn how to design, pattern, and make a garment in this three day workshop. During the three days you will develop the skills and knowledge to complete the fashion process. You will learn the skills to create a storyboard that showcases your theme, design a garment from your storyboard, pattern make your design from a block, and finish with cutting and sewing the design to complete a wearable garment.

  • Design processes including trending, storyboard development and colour analysis

  • Taking measurements and pattern making from blocks

  • Toile Fitting (Calico supplied)

  • Cutting the pattern from your own chosen fabric

  • Sewing the garment together

  • Finishing the garment for wear

Meet your teacher

Kristy Power

Kristy Power has over 10 years’ experience in fashion and costume making for her label Harpi. While developing Harpi she undertook various roles and has extensive background in all fashion label areas from developing whole collections from inspiration to samples stage and promotions including runways (Designer Q 2016- 2020). Harpi specialise in gender and size inclusivity through their ranges. She holds a Diploma of Clothing, Textiles and Footwear, Advanced Diploma of Applied Fashion Technology and Merchandising and a Bachelor of Applied Fashion. Kristy is committed to giving students a whole experience of the fashion industry and encouraging them to find their own voice through their designs.

  • Inspiration images - pictures/photos/magazine cutouts

  • Bring along 2-3mof a fabric you love, something suitable for your garment
